February is Heart Health Month, fitting being the month of love. Wendy, our host this month, decided to help us improve our diets by adding more heart healthy fiber.
The American Heart Association provides great recourse if you’re looking for healthy eating. An entire page on whole grains and fiber is a great place to start!
Like most of my Foodie friends, I used oats in my recipe.
I like throwing oats into smoothies for a little extra boost of fiber and substance. I made this smoothie last year with some extra beets and was saving it for February!
This recipe makes 1 smoothie.

I like the consistency given when adding oats to my smoothies too, Lauren. Between the fruits, beets and oats this smoothie is a fiber powerhouse.
I LOVE the color!!
Beautiful color! I can’t bring myself to like beets but I wonder if I could get past it in this smoothie with all the delicious fruit.
Beets do have a strong flavor… but we love them here!
This is so pretty and totally healthy- the beets are my favorite- an underappreciated veggie for sure!
I considered a smoothie too, but not sure I would have been as creative as this – sounds delicious!
Aw, thanks so much!
Aw, thanks so much! Smoothies are big around here for sneaking veggies into my kids so I have to get creative when I can!
I’ve never thought to put beets in anything. However, the color is amazing and I’m sure it’s in part because of the beets. I love the addition of the oats. They help you stay full longer.
Yes, beets turn everything pink!
